Are you looking to try something new, to get fit, have fun, have many adventures and make new friends? Then why not try Dragon Boating!
Dragon Boating is a sport for all ages from 8 and up (our oldest member is nearly 80!), all fitness levels, and participants of all shapes and sizes.
At SCDA Mavericks, we’re more than just a dragon boat club—we’re a community. We originally started as a club to support breast cancer survivors, and that’s still a big part of who we are, but over time we’ve grown and now welcome paddlers of all backgrounds. It doesn’t matter if you're just looking for social paddling or want to push yourself to compete—there’s a place for you here! More than anything, you’ll find friendship, strength, and a space to really thrive with like-minded people
We believe that exercise is medicine. Paddling is particularly good for developing strength, endurance, co-ordination and is a great core-specific workout. Training is adjusted to the varying needs of our paddlers, with a strong focus on technique. We are patient while you build fitness and we hope you are patient with yourself.
Dragon Boating is a team sport, and to have any hope of making the boat go forward, you must work together. The loyalty and team spirit you find while paddling is something you won’t find anywhere else. Over time, you'll notice that the people you paddle with will become family.
At SCDA Mavericks, we’re all about being a welcoming, fun, and supportive dragon boat club where everyone can have a go and feel good—both in body and mind. With the spirit of a dragon, we grow together, enjoy the paddle, and support our members and the wider community, all while having a laugh along the way.
